Watchlist is a weekly post i do on stocks (and occasionally other assets)  that I will be keeping an eye on during the week.

It is not a Buy/Sell/Hold recommendation, Neither is it investment advice in any shape or form.

If anything comes up after this post, i will update on greentickertales.com

The 40/40 club

The top 10 gainers last week, all have a joint spot on this week’s watchlist because they have huge price appreciation. Mostly over 40%. The smallest week on week gain was Royal Exchange, which went up by 32.97% to close at N1.21

Most of the gainers were in the insurance space: Prestige, Sovereign Trust, Coronation, Universal Insurance, Guinea, Consolidated Hallmark and Cornerstone.

Short term players may be positioning ahead of new capital requirements in the insurance space.

Non insurance gainers were Tantalizers (which broke a new 52 week high) and Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals.

Nvidia

Nvidia has a spot this week in view of its CEO making a presentation at a major tech event this week. If the markets react positively to his comments, the stock could pop a bit. Nvidia is one of the biggest companies in the world by market cap.

Delta Air

Delta Airlines kicks off the US earnings seasons as the company will drop its Q4 earnings on Friday before US trading hours.

In its 9M 2024 earnings release, the airline stated it expected record revenue in December.

Pepsico

Pepsico closed at close to its 52 week low in last week’s trading session. The rise of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs, according to a Cornell Business School study means you have fewer people taking sugary snacks. Pepsico is a dominant player in that space.

Notable mentions

Dogecoin

Dogecoin has a place in this week’s watchlist because it has appreciated by 23% in the last 7 days.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin takes the last spot in this week’s watchlist because it is close to the $100,000 point. From a trading standpoint, that’s a key level. If it hits a $100,000, it could retrace if a short squeeze happens or stay above there for a while.
